This painting was again inspired by Martin Scorsese's movie, "Silence" and Makoto Fujimura's book, "Silence and Beauty". This painting, as well as "Light", explore ideas of right and wrong, seeing things differently based on your experiences in life, how views can change over time, etc.
I highly recommend both the movie and Mako's book. They are fascinating and provide a small window into these massive ideas. I continue to think on them, long after having finished watching and reading. Looking simply at the surface of things, it seems, can often be a really big mistake in life.
